It’s your time, so be the best you can be by being in tune. Hatha Yoga While the word "Hatha" generally refers to the physical practice of yoga, incorporating asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing), here we use the term to refer to classical stretching, breathing and meditation. Hatha Yoga can be approached by anyone at any level of flexibility or inflexibility. The movements are gentle and fluid, and the poses are held longer and often repeated, giving the student a chance to relax into the asana in order to develop greater body awareness. Astanga Yoga A fast paced series of sequential postures as developed by K. Pattabhi Jois, of Mysore, India. The system consists of six series of poses, which increase in difficulty allowing the student to progress at their own pace. This is a great class for students looking for a challenging and energetic practice to increase strength as well as flexibility. Vinyasa Yoga "Vinyasa" means "flow". Derived from Ashtanga Yoga, it is based on breath synchronized movements, where one asana (pose) flows into the next. Vinyasa at The Szen changes from one class to the next, based on the understanding that varying the asanas allows the body to open differently. Pilates Pilates was developed in the 1920s by the legendary physical trainer Joseph H. Pilates as a system of exercise designed to increase flexibilty and tone the body, without building bulk. Not surprisingly, some of the first people to use the Pilates Method were dancers such as Martha Graham and George Balanchine. Today Pilates has become widely popular because of its undeniable effectiveness in helping people lose weight and develop core strength, while stretching and toning the entire body. Tai Chi Tai Chi is an internal martial art system that has its roots in the teachings of Taoism. Tai Chi uses mindful, relaxed movement to cultivate and develop control of chi (vital energy) within the body. In addition to the martial aspect of Tai Chi, the training also functions as a means of self healing by cultivating chi and releasing blockages in the energy pathways. Qi Gong

Come experience Nia. Your first class is on us :-) Aikido Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art developed in the 1930's. It is a purely defensive art based on holds, throws, and joint locks. The Aikido practitioner learns to control, contain, deflect, and redirect attacks. Because Aikido makes use of the attacker's own power, great physical strength is not required for effective self-defense. Women, men and children of any age can develop calmness, greater flexibility, stamina, improved timing and coordination through regular Aikido practice. Movement for the Blues An energizing collaboration between yoga and karate, this class will heal you from the inside out. No feeling down when in the midst of this training. Too good to not try! Young Warriors A mindful martial arts program for non-adults. Focusing on the strength and integrity (right from wrong) in each one of us, children learn the real beauty of practicing karate (and eventually non "empty hand" technique). Yogalates Take the best stuff from yoga and the core stuff from pilates and you get yogalates! Core strength and flexibility, insightfulness and strength, all in one class. Yoga of the Heart A medicinal yoga program designed for those who are in need of a gentle, mindful connection to body, mind and spirit. Taught by a registered nurse and 500RYT Yoga Alliance Instructor, this class is perfect for those seeking restorative "exercise". Fusion A mix of Yoga and Pilates based on the requests of the students and the guidance of the instructor. Dottie teaches a wonderful fusion class that may include core stability practice with the body balls or sculpting with weights and bands as well as mat practice and stretch.
